  4. Indeed it was. I love how much more confident Corbyn has become since after the election. He is a PM-in-waiting.

  6. According to the Bloomberg New Energy Finance outlook, solar power is becoming increasingly affordable and in just a few years it could be cheaper than coal and even natural-gas plants, almost everywhere around the world. This means that solar power is going to kill fossil fuels much faster than we have previously thought. And it is not just solar power that is becoming an increasingly cheap energy source. Even in developing countries, like China and India, solar power is expected to start providing cheaper electricity as soon as the early 2020s. “These tipping points are all happening earlier and we just can’t deny that this technology is getting cheaper than we previously thought,” said Seb Henbest, a researcher at BNEF in London and lead author of the report. Even the cost of offshore wind farms are bound fall, the report concludes. There's no doubt about it: renewable energy is the future!
  7. Here's some more good news, this time from South Korea where the country's new President, Moon Jae-in, has committed to phasing out all coal and nuclear power stations. Read more over at EnergyDesk:
  8. Climate Camp Sweden

The summer has just begun with midsummer around the corner, and we hope that you have enjoyed the first few weeks. If you are thinking about how to spend the rest of this summer: why not join Climate Camp Sweden? On August 3-7, Climate Camp Sweden will take place on Hisingen in Gothenburg. The sign up for the camp is open and it would be great to see you there. The camp has been initiated by Fossil Free Sweden, Fossilgasfällan, Nature and Youth Sweden and Friends of the Earth, but it is open for anyone who wants to take action for a sustainable and just society. There will be workshops and seminars around these themes, and how we can organise ourselves to win. The camp will end with an action against the planned fossil gas terminal in Gothenburg harbour. There will be both a demonstration and a boat-action on the river looking forward to, and celebrating, our fossil free future. All in all, it will be a great camp with loads of learning from each other, building of a movement and fantastic, creative actions. Sign up for the camp today, and help us spread it to everyone you know!
  9. The Steam summer sale has begun! What games are you buying?

      Tom S

I will probably buy prison architect, civilization 6 and fallout 4. You?

I'm interested in Civilization, but I am not sure if I will get it now or during the winter game sale. I have too many games already that I haven't even played yet...

  11. Apropå SR i Järva.

  12. This is outrageous! Twitter has suspended 180 accounts linked to the elected Venezuelan government after President Nicolás Maduro criticized US Vice President Mike Pence. Yes, you read that right. Twitter is actually suspending foreign elected governments for criticizing the US (while it verifies literal Nazis). Twitter acting like an official US State Social Media platform is a big reason why it's so important to support other, smaller social websites and communities. Because we clearly can't depend on just US-corporate social platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

  13. Burn neoliberalism, not people.

  14. Check out this video of Jeremy Corbyn, just days after the general election, completely owning the House of Commons. Corbyn is unstoppable!

  16. This is why young people love old socialists like Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbyn (spoiler: their success with young people is - luckily - based on their platforms and not on their charisma). Read the full article here: Why Are So Many Young Voters Falling for Old Socialists?
  17. Here's an interesting article with Peter Sunde, founder of Pirate Bay, where he says that "everything has gone wrong" with the internet.

Everything has gone wrong. That’s the thing, it’s not about what will happen in the future it’s about what’s going on right now. We’ve centralized all of our data to a guy called Mark Zuckerberg, who’s basically the biggest dictator in the world as he wasn’t elected by anyone.

Trump is basically in control over this data that Zuckerberg has, so I think we’re already there. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong and I don’t think there’s a way for us to stop it.

Pirate Bay founder: We’ve lost the internet, it’s all about damage control now

  18. Check out this full interview with Jeremy Corbyn on Andrew Marr (11/06/17). Have you ever seen Jeremy Corbyn more relaxed and confident? Theresa May should take note, this what leadership looks like. Marr: "You're looking chipper." Corbyn: "It's a nice sunny morning."

Protest against May and her Coalition of Chaos now this Saturday, 12pm. The Tories launched a general election to destroy Labour. They waged a campaign of fear against a campaign of hope. And they failed. Now a disgraced Theresa May is trying to cling on to power with an alliance with the Democratic Unionist Party, the most extreme party in Parliament. They are anti-gay. They are anti-choice. They are climate change deniers. And they have a history of links to and sympathies for Northern Irish loyalist terrorism - after smearing Labour and Jeremy Corbyn over terrorism. The Tories are themselves riddled with homophobes, opponents of women's rights to choose, and climate change deniers. Now they'll be strengthened with an alliance with the right-wing extremists of the DUP. This Coalition of Chaos and Hatred is a threat to all of us. Take to the streets in London and all over Britain. Set up your own Facebook events for your towns and cities and I'll share them. Let's bring down Theresa May - and stop a Coalition of Chaos and Hatred taking power. For more information see the event on Facebook:
  20. More than 150,000 people have joined Labour since Jeremy Corbyn's successful election and the party's total membership is now close to a million (source). That means that Labour is on course to be a million-member party for the first time since the 1950s. It also means that Labour, under Corbyn's leadership, is the biggest European centre-left party by membership. Read more here:

  24. Soon media will report what Market, our king and ruler of everything, thinks of the election result. Will he be confused? Happy? Pessimistic?

  25. Wow, the first exit poll suggest a hung parliament! If the exit polls are correct, this is one of the most amazing political upsets in modern times. Just amazing!

Jeremy Corbyn has done a truly remarkable political campaign - and this despite the massive media hate and the Labour traitors. Corbyn's critics have been proven deeply and profoundly wrong. This is the first election since 1997 that Labour has gained seats in the British parliament. This shows that it is possible to gain votes - and even win elections - on real leftist politics and ideology.

Theresa May is politically dead if the exit poll is correct! May will have to resign if it turns out she has squandered a conservative majority.

Again, this is just the exit poll. Everything could potentially change as the night progresses. But there is hope!

  26. Professor Stephen Hawking has said that he supports Jeremy Corbyn and Labour in the upcoming general election in the UK. Hawking will vote Labour because Tories would be a "disaster for NHS and police". Read more here:
