IFJ says 94 journalists and media workers died in targeted killings, bomb attacks and crossfire incidents this year.

This is a sad development. For the first time in three years, the number of journalists killed while doing their job actually rose again in 2018. According to numbers released by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), 94 journalists and media workers died in targeted killings, bomb attacks, and crossfire incidents this year. This number includes 84 journalists, camera people and technicians as well as 10 media staff members. The most dangerous places to be a journalist in 2018 was Afghanistan, where 16 media workers lost their lives, and Mexico, where 11 media workers were killed.
