Palestinian leaders reconsider recognition of Israel

Palestine Liberation Organisation to suspend recognition of Israel until Israel recognises the State of Palestine.

Quote

The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) has decided to suspend its recognition of Israel until the latter recognises the State of Palestine in its 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

During a meeting in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah late on Monday, the PLO, which is an umbrella of major Palestinian political parties, also said that the Oslo Accords, signed with Israel in the early 1990s, "no longer stand".

Yeah, didn't Trump promise that he would give both the Palestinians and the Israelis a deal so good that they couldn't say no to it, or something stupid like that? But so far that deal seems pretty one-sided to me.

We all need to stop looking at America as the world's savior. It's so not! Especially President Trump. He was intimidating other Countries into acknowledging Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. This kind of tactics are not going to work or solve the long standing problem between Israel and Palestine. They both need to reach some kind of compromise on their own without outside interference. They need to decide to do this for the sake of future generations. This situation needs to end already!

Yes it's insane how long this conflict has been unresolved. We need a two-state solution now!

Unfortunately, I think a two-state solution to the conflict died several years ago. Because in recent years, Israel has broken up the region so much that it is impossible for a Palestinian state to exist at all. The only real choice that remains is a democratic state for all citizens (Israelis and Palestinians) or apartheid.

Very much so. It's so embarrassing to see him put Kushner in charge of "peace in the middle east." Trumpers are really hung up on the idea of change and "shaking things up"  which to be fair, is something most leftists have been begging for for years. They lack common sense, however, in thinking that "shaking things up" means putting an inexperienced 30 something in charge of negotiations and pandering to the right-wing Israeli establishment. Plus the ideologues behind Trump (because I refuse to believe the man has an ideology at all, he's just there, absorbing things like a sponge and letting it drip onto twitter) pushing him to stoke the flames by saying we will move the embassy. With Trumps election, the Israli right wing has basically gotten permission to go crazy for the next four years.

If you are not recognizing a country, how would you expect that country to recognize you? However, there is also a truth behind this recognizing and not recognizing. Whether Palestine recognizes Isreal or not, Isreal will always remain the truth; and whether Isreal recognizes Palestine or not, Palestine will always remain the truth.

That will never happen, there is just too much hate between Palestinians and Israelis. :(

Sure, but there have been several successful reconciliation processes that have resulted in peace between two parties after a violent and prolonged conflict. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is no different IMO. After all, it's in both parties best interest to come together and work towards a common state and life.
